New Necklace Displays Available

one of each color is currently available

A revised edition of my earlier floating-bust-necklace holder with jewelry display plate. This version is entirely modular. It can be disassembled and reassembled easily without using tools. All adjustments can also be made using thumb screws, large knurled guidance nuts act as a height adjustment, while left and right swivel is achieved through a friction joint.

The life-casting, plaster throwing, painting, wood cutting and finish, inlaying and treatment of the iron plate, and all other details are entirely done by hand. Due to the nature of the finish and chemical treatment process, please understand that each piece will have individual variances.

I intend to add a small work log detailing various parts of the production process for those who may be interested in such things.

Silver Version

Features an iron plate inlay which was hand sanded down and then brought up to a near mirror shine. The plate is finished with beeswax. Stainless steel hardware with some details nickel finished.

Black Version

Features an iron plate inlay which was hand sanded down, chemically rusted, and treated to a black oxide. It is finished and buffed with paste-wax. Features black stainless steel hardware.

About the Material.ism Project

Material.ism Site Icon

The Material.ism Project was started as, and remains, a creative outlet that seeks to use both local and exotic materials (and people) to creative unique and interesting pieces which capture and convey a sense of mood through presence.

As we are living in a digital age, and concerns arise around the reproduction of art and media by both mass manufacturing and AI, I wanted to create work that could not be replicated in this way. Every piece of art that I produce is made completely by hand, and the life-cast sculptural pieces are cast from individual people. I am unconcerned with questions of value or artistic merit or digital systems, I am only seeking to make unique objects and work with interesting people in the process.
