Glasses display featuring partial male face lifecast and weighted retention rod
The partial face cast is made of high density plaster which has been hand painted, flecked, and coated in polyurethane to protect the surface.
A series of iron rods in a mast system were constructed using bamboo tying methods with metal wire.
Resin was applied as a cushion for the temples of the glasses, and a weighted chain was added to the hold-down bar for secure retention.
Set into a treated pine wood base which was coated in polyurethane.
This piece was a custom design and build for a client.
My general process is to start with a design and work towards function.
This was made in the reverse of that mentality, with function towards design.
While both I and the client are pleased with the result, there may be improved iterations of this item in the future.
